"Tips To Help You Look & Feel Your Best"
------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning,
Quite a few people asked me if I kept Keno and Mystic's
ashes. The answer is no. I have no problem with the idea of
keeping the ashes of loved ones that have passed, whether it
be human or animal. We just didn't do it and if you've picked
up anything from reading my column for any length of time, you
already know that things always seem to "happen" around here,
and I wouldn't want some freak accident causing a Keno and
Mystic duststorm and having to scoop them up with my Dyson
vacuum. It's OK, go ahead and giggle, it's funny in a weird
sort of way...
We chose, instead, to do something else at the suggestion of
the vet tech who adored Keno and Mystic. She suggested getting
"paw prints" done and offered to be the one who got their last
prints since there was no way we could have gone back in there...
It's a picture frame on one side and a plaster mold on the other
side that you bake after the imprint is done. People use these
for their children's first hand/footprint, or in our case, Keno
and Mystic's paw print. We went next door to Michaels with tears
still streaming down our faces and dark sunglasses to try to
hide the swollen eyes and bought two of the frames. Alana took
them and went in the back to get their prints. She was crying
when she came back out. I have to say that considering the
sad and traumatic even that had taken place for us, the staff
there couldn't have been more supportive and loving had it been
their own pets. They were especially close to Keno, and even the
vet said that she had a hard time coming in when she heard who
she would be "taking care" of that day...
Anyway...It took me a week to get their frames done. Not because
it was a lot of work, but because everytime I would start to work
on them, I would gently stroke the paw prints and of course, cry...
I did finish them yesterday and because I have so many pictures
of them, choosing the right one was quite a long process. The one
I put in the frame will probably be remembered by many of you. The
one of Keno in his Reindeer headpiece. I have them in the family
room on a shelf with two Great Dane figurines on each side "guarding"
my babies. I can, and often do, look up and see them from any spot
in the kitchen, dining area, or family room...

Everyone knows to sharpen their eyeliner or lip pencils to make
the application easier and flawless, but there's a better reason
to always sharpen these pencils, even if you don't think they
need it...Bacteria...Sharpening lip and eyeliner pencils often
will remove the outer layer, which can harbor bacteria...
