                  LOOKING GOOD - March 11, 2008
"Tips To Help You Look & Feel Your Best"
------------------------------------------------------------

Good Morning,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your thoughts and prayers
for my mom, sis, and myself are much appreciated. Mom went
back to the doctor today and although she's far from healed
or pain-free, there is a very slight improvement. Her cornea
transplant has been postponed until the eye heals to prevent
infecting the new cornea...

My mom and sister assured me they have things under control
and to stay where I am to deal with what is going on here.
Unfortunately, Mystic and Keno are not doing too well and
we can all see the end is very near. I can't look at either
one of them without tearing up and although Keno doesn't
seem to be in any discomfort right now, he has what I call,
"Sad, sick, eyes". Mystic, on the other hand, seems worse
and we will be taking her to the vet as soon as Flyboy gets
back...

Spring break also starts this week and the house will be
busy. I won't lie and say that I'm not stressed about wanting
to be in two places at once. I'm in a situation that will/does
make me feel guilty no matter what I decide. I understand that
it's a no brainer when it comes to my mom being THE most important
issue here and the care she is getting is above and beyond thanks
to my sister. Those who don't, or never have had pets will probably
question this the most...

However...Flyboy's sons have never really cared about our dogs
and are negligent when it comes to their care or needs. My boys,
on the other hand, love these dogs to pieces, but have to work
and aren't able to keep an eye on them and the situation. And,
of course, Flyboy is gone quite a bit, which leaves...me...I
was able to go to Vegas because there were more people around
here full-time to keep an eye on things. Flypup and his fiance
moved into their apartment over the weekend. I'm not saying Keno
and Mystic won't be here in a few days, I'm saying that I'm
afraid the time is coming real soon and I really want to be here
with my babies, "just in case"...

But...I will say this...If at ANY time my sister or mom tell me
they need me, I won't hesitate to get on a plane for Chicago...

:-)

Today's tip comes from Bonnie. Thank you very much Bonnie,
I learned something new from your tip also!

"Many acne creams and cleansers contain a small amount of
salicylic acid as the active ingredient. To stop a blemish
in it's tracks use a wart stick. Sounds wierd I know but a
wart stick (which is sold in any drug store) contains 40%
salicylic and is under $5. It resembles a tube of chap stick
and can be applied directly to the blemish before bed time.
Be sure to treat only the blemish and not the surrounding
area to avoid irritation and be sure to read the warning before
use as this product is not recommended for those with diabetes,
circulation problems or very sensitive skin. I've used it
several times and it works great if you're in a jam as long
as it's applied sparingly."

"Pookie" sent in today's recipe tips for all of you. She says
she makes her own Christmas gifts for people. She also says she
usually uses inexpensive glass containers for these recipes,
but is going to try using the new Ziploc containers that come
in colors to prevent accidental breakage in the bathroom. You
can also make birthday gifts, "new mom" gifts, etc.

Thank you very much Pookie for sharing these recipes! :-)

BASIC BATH SALTS
1 cup Epsom salts
6 drops glycerin
3 drops food coloring
3 drops essential oils

Mix ingredients with wire wisk or fingers until no lumps/color even.
Store in wide-brimmed container as salts may harden. Use: 1/4 - 1 cup
with running hot bath water...
