"Tips To Help You Look & Feel Your Best"
------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning,
My sister and I are extremely concerned about our mom. The
day after she got back from Vegas, her "good" eye started to
get red and painful. It got progressively worse during the
day and her vision started to diminish. My sister called the
Opthamologist immediately and he wanted my mom there pronto...
He took one look at the eye and told my sister he wanted her
admitted to the hospital and sent her to the hospital where her
eye surgeon is. He took one look at the eye and diagnosed it
as a scratch on the surface, which became infected with bacteria.
(I personally believe that probably happened on the plane given
all the "stuff" that is in an airplane cabin)...
He wanted to admit my mom and agreed not to IF my sister would
apply eye medications to her eye once an hour, EVERY hour, round
the clock. By this time, my mom's vision had diminished even
more and the doctor said had she not come in when she did, it
would have been too late to save the eye...
My poor sister and mom stayed up and set alarms as backups just
in case my sister dozed and they got through the night. My sister
took my mom back to the doctor the following day and by this time,
her vision was gone completely, and given the fact that the other
eye has no vision, I think you can imagine the panic my poor mom
is in right now. The doctor assured her her vision would come back
after the infection clears up, but it won't be an overnight thing...
The doctor told them they could "sleep" the next night because he
believes the body needs rest to heal, but to continue the hourly
medications once they woke up and until they went to bed at night...
I was going to go to Chicago over the weekend, but my sister wants
me to wait until they see the doctor today, then we'll make plans...
I'm sure you all can understand our worry and concern and our hearts
are breaking for our mom. She doesn't complain, but is so scared
and I worry that psychologically, this will have an adverse effect
on her if her vision doesn't return soon. She's always been so
independent and being totally helpless and dependent on my sister
right now is weighing heavily on her mentally right now...
I'm trying to get a few things done around here, just in case I
have to leave right away, but I'm going to ask a favor...
Say a little prayer for my mom...
And...One for my sister, she has been an angel...
:-)

Using bronzers can give you a tanned look without the damage
to the skin of being in the sun. If you're the type that still
likes to hang out in the sun for the tan, bronzers are a way
to keep your summer tan a little longer. Here are some tips
on applying bronzers as well as what exactly they are and the
types of bronzers out there...
Bronzers basically mimic the sun without the casualties of the
sun...
When shopping for a bronzer, choose carefully. Don't choose one
that looks too orange or too frosted. You don't want a bronzer
that is shimmery, especially in mature skin. Never pick a shade
any darker than two shades of your own skin. Don't think going
darker will make people think you were in the Bahamas on the beach,
they're more apt to think you colored your face with crayons...
Bronzers are to warm and enhance, not cover and color the face...
If you go with a bronzer, keep the rest of the makeup simple. Use
eyeshadows that are subtle and a nice contrast to the bronzer.
Browns, taupes, and ivories are a good choice on the eyes with a
little eyeliner and mascara, you should be set.
On the lips, go with a more sheer color in shades of coral, red,
or russets....
If you're going to use a bronzer, use a little or no foundation.
If you use too much foundation, your face will look like you
have a mask on. Instead of a foundation, try using a tinted
moisturizer under the bronzer, or mix some moisturizer in the
palm of your hand with a drop or two of foundation to make your
own...

Powdered bronzers work well with oily complexions.
Dry skin that needs a more dewy look should choose a
cream, stick or gel bronzer...
When using a bronzer, application is the key to getting a nice
natural look. When using powder bronzers, use a big fluffy
brush. Dip the brush in the bronzer and shake off the excess.
Apply it to the areas of the face where sun would most likely
hit, the cheeks, chin, bridge of the nose, forehead. Blend well
by lightly dusting your face with the brush. If you have a light
complexion, you'll want to apply a light dusting of pink or rose
blush to complete the best look...
Bronzers in cream, stick or gel should be applied with the
fingers to blend evenly. Dab the bronzer onto the apples of
the cheeks and blend in circular motions. Feather the color
towards your hairline. Dab some more bronzer on the rest of
the face to finish it off...
Probably the best advice when using bronzers is to go easy on
it and layer it rather than loading it on the face. Natural
is the key with bronzers. You don't want to look "made up,"
you want to look healthy and fresh.
If you overdid the bronzer and scare yourself when you look
in the mirror, don't panic...Wipe soe off with a cotton pad
or dust a little loose powder all over the face to tone it down
a little...
