Nov. 13, 2007

Thanksgiving is a week away and we all know what that
means: the busiest holiday travel time of the year.

What am I thankful for?

I'm staying close to home.

This week's topics include:

P.S. If you're interested you can now post comments on this

from Christian The Lion DVD... This will warm your heart!

Normal Price: $9.99

If you do nothing else you must click on the link below to
watch this truly heartwarming video clip that comes from
an amazing TRUE story. This double feature DVD containing
Animal Adventure starring Christian The Lion and The Great
Dan Patch.

Christian the Lion (which is the video clip you will see)
is the beautiful TRUE story about Christian the Lion as he
is introduced to the wild African plains for the first time
in his life. After years of being around humans, Christian
considers himself a human too. With George Adamson, the man
featured in the classic film 'Born Free'.

Then you get the bonus program 'The Great Dan Patch' about
one of the most remarkable race horses that ever lived.

Just click on the link to see this video clip, I guarantee
you'll be glad you did. And you can pick up the DVD for

* Pack smart

Yes, I know it's deer season, but you still can't put a
shotgun in your carry-on bag.

Since Thanksgiving is probably the time when more seldom-
fliers and never-fliers are going through airport security
than any other time of year, banned items most travelers
wouldn’t consider bringing into the cabin end up slowing
down checkpoint lines and getting confiscated.

If you're not sure about what's allowed and what's not,
check the guidelines listed on the TSA's Website -

* Don't be late.

Just how soon before your scheduled flight you should get
to the airport varies according to airline, airport and
day of travel. Check with your carrier, and err on the
side of being an early bird.

Remember, you must have a boarding pass and valid govern-
ment photo ID to enter the security checkpoint. Have them
ready and give yourself adequate time to check your baggage
and move through security.

* Dress for success

Think about the security checkpoint when you get dressed in
the morning.

Metal in your clothing, like huge buckles or zippers, may
set off the walk-through metal detector. Pack coins, keys,
jewelry, belt buckles and other metal items in your carry-
on bag.

Choose your wardrobe as if you were enthusiastically
preparing for a game of strip poker. Remember that all
shoes must be removed and screened by TSA. Passengers also
need to remove blazers, suit coats and bulky sweaters in
addition to outer garments so agents can check for hidden,
potentially dangerous objects.

* Go digital

Digital cameras don't cause many problems going through
checkpoints. High-speed film, however, can be damaged by
the X-rays used by security. At the checkpoint, hand any
undeveloped film that is faster than 800-speed to a
security officer for physical inspection to keep it out
of the X-ray machine.

* Behave

Belligerent behavior, inappropriate jokes and threats
will not be tolerated. A sarcastic comment about terrorism
can - and has - resulted in delays and missed flights if
the security guy or gal doesn't get the joke.

The smallest & most powerful mini RC...

hesitate to call it a toy because the technology behind
this is cutting edge.

* Check your car

Make sure the vehicle has been properly checked out by
a mechanic. If it's questionable and you don’t have the
time or money to fix it before taking off on your journey,
consider renting a vehicle.

There's nothing more frustrating than having to delay or
derail your travel plans because of a break down on the
road. No, not even having to hear Cousin Sal's tales of
the old paint factory for the 27th time.

* Plan for jams

Expect to spend more time on the road and build that into
your schedule.

Heavy traffic, especially on Wednesday afternoon and
Sunday could create tie-ups. Plan frequent stops and keep
an eye on the fuel gauge to make sure you don't run dry
while idling in a holiday traffic jam.

Also, be prepared for sudden changes in weather. In many
parts of the country, this time of year can be
unpredictable, and it can affect driving conditions.

* Think like a thief

Don't leave valuables in plain sight when making stops.
Put as much in the trunk as possible and carry purses,
briefcases and laptops inside with you, even if the stop
is only for a few minutes.

Remember, retail clerks aren't the only ones who consider
the holidays to be their busy season. Thieves do too.

* Stay in control

Don't lose your temper. Road rage isn't going to make
things move any quicker and may make things more
unpleasant for everyone.
