THE COFFEE BREAK - Wednesday, July 30, 2008 [*EMAIL*] ------------------------------------------------------------ Is it time to see without glasses? It's never been easier or more affordable... Find out at AllAboutVision, visit: http://rd.gophercentral.com/al/a?aid=9131&ent=3460 ************************************************************ British high-end retailer Superdrug has announced a line of makeup geared exclusively toward men -- a line that includes "Guy-liner" and "Manscara." Jeff Wemyss, director of trading for Superdrug, said the Taxi Man line of male-oriented cosmetics is not exclusively for those looking to make their appearance more feminine, the Daily Mail reported. "These days you can be macho and wear makeup," he said. "If you look at people like Russell Brand and Robbie Williams, they both wear makeup and they are both very red-blooded men. Men are more obsessed with their appearance than ever before. There is no longer any pain in being seen to be vain." Wemyss said Guy-liner and Manscara will be joined in the line later in the summer by a machismo-powered lip balm and a manly concealer. What are your thoughts on makeup for men in stores? P.S. The Colorado Department of Revenue-appointed committee added "WTF" -- an abbreviation for "what the" followed by a four-letter euphemism for copulation beginning with "f" -- to bring the total number of three-letter combinations banned by the list to 261, the Rocky Mountain News reported. Department of Revenue representative Maren Rubino said the committee decides what letter combinations to ban from license plates using "standard common knowledge practices." "Standard common practices are: any combination of letters or numbers that carry connotations offensive to good taste and decency, are misleading, offensive to the general public, or represent gang, drug, sex, racial terms," Rubino said. Other combinations banned by the state include KKK, ASS, HEL, FAG, COP, FBI, GAY, JEW, JAP, WOP and CAT. ************************************************************ WAYFARER STYLE SUNGLASSES Retail Price: $39.99 DEAL PRICE: $3.99 These classic and always popular Wayfarer style sunglasses have never been more affordable. Florida President Bernie Machen said he doesn't like the school being tagged with a reputation for partying. "I'm afraid the connotation of a party school that goes around is not such a positive image and in that sense, I don't like it for our university. We're better than that," he told The Gainesville (Fla.) Sun. The party rankings are based on responses from 120,000 students at 368 colleges to questions about alcohol and drug use, the amount of time spent studying, and student interest in fraternities and sororities. Florida jumped up to the top spot from No. 4 last year, No. 11 in 2006 and No. 18 in 2005. It was No. 2 in 1999. No. 2 this year is the University of Mississippi, followed by Penn State University. WVU fell to No. 4 this year, followed by Ohio University, Randolph-Macon College, the University of Georgia, University of Texas-Austin, University of California-Santa Barbara and Florida State University, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The next tier includes: New Hampshire, Iowa, Colorado, Indiana, Tulane, Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Arizona State, Tennessee, Alabama and Loyola University-New Orleans. ************************************************************ TOUCH n' GO MIXER... Ines Muller, a German naturist, said Poles come fully clothed to the beach on their side of the border and stare at the nude swimmers and sunbathers, The Sun reported Monday. "You feel like an ape in the zoo. The Poles come with their binoculars, stare and swear," Muller said. Beach patrons said there used to be a fence separating the German and Polish beaches, but it was torn down as part of a 2007 agreement between the countries. "It's a nudist beach. It's terrible that the Poles come over dressed and stare," said German Elke Bernholz. Some Poles said the proximity of the two beaches annoys them as much as it does the Germans. "It's horrible -- we would never bathe naked, we are Catholic," said one beach-going Pole from the town of Swinemunde. ------------------------------------------------------------ Viral Videos on the Net at EVTV1.com http://www.evtv1.com/ EVTV1.com ----------------------------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reader Comments ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What are your thoughts on the age factor of Obama and McCain?
