           LIVING GREEN - Thursday, July 10, 2008
-----------------------------------------------------------

Good morning,

Yesterday, while I was sitting in my car in traffic, I saw
a woman on a bicycle with a basket full of groceries. As I
watched her pedaling leisurely down the sidewalk, moving
much faster than I was at that point, it occurred to me
that while my local grocery store, at little over a mile
away from my house, was too far away for walking, especially
with a couple arms full of perishables, it was just about
perfect biking distance.

While take a 3,000 pound steel box with you on simple, local
errands like the post office or grocery store when a bicycle
is so much more convenient, and better for you and the envi-
ronment!

Do you remember Bozo The Clown?

If you're like me you grew up watching Bozo The Clown. There
were many different Bozo's around the country. Here in Chicago
it was Bob Bell. Even Willard Scott got his start being Bozo.

But there was one Bozo who started it all and to most people
he IS the one and only Bozo. That's Larry Harmon.

On July 3, 2008 we lost Larry. Luckily his work and the magic
that is Bozo will live on forever. Check out this video clip
of Bozo.

You can also buy the DVD at a discounted price. Check it out
by visiting: Watch the magic of Bozo by visiting here

* Buy a bicycle. The cheapest ones at discount stores may
go as low as $45 and high quality commute bikes range
from $500 to $1200. Garage sales and online classifieds
frequently offer additional low cost or even free bicycles.
Police departments often have annual sales of bicycles
they've recovered. Remember—besides being free, environ-
mentally friendly, and usually immune to traffic congestion,
bikes also give you a free daily workout.
