I would like to nominate ( if I can) for person of the
year to be my late husband, who passed away with cancer
after dealing and fighting with it off and on for 3
years. When he was diagnosed with colon and rectal
cancer his first question was” when I have the surgery,
how soon can I go back to work? I have a family to
support,” and this was his response for the next 3 sur-
geries, to come. One landing him in intensive care in a
coma for over a month. He always worried about me and
his family, and never of himself. He would return to
work immediately as soon as the doctor would release
him each time. Even while going through all of his
chemotherapies and radiations, he strived to never miss
a day’s work, until up to the last month of his life
when he didn’t have enough breath to hardly get around
the house, he would still be saying, "I need to be work-
ing, instead of laying up in the house.”

We were married 20 years, and he was the greatest
inspiration to me, showing me each day that no matter
how hard times were that he NEVER gave up, and he always
fought his cancer with a positive outlook and never gave
up, until his cancer overtook him. The last day we spent
together, he told me that it was me and his children and
grandchildren that gave him his reason to strive to hold
on as long as he did, and that he loved us and didn’t’
want to leave us but God was calling him home.

I thank God for giving me such a wonderful husband and
the 20 years we had together.

I have truly been blessed.

My condolences for the loss of your husband, but what a
blessing to have had him in your life for as long as you
did. He seems to have been a man who made every day count
and who has left you with a valuable legacy to pass on.
It seems as if you were HIS "Person of the Year" EVERY

I believe the person of the year should be my daughter.
She is 39 years old. A single mother of 3 teenagers, a
full time student, and has a full time job but still makes
time for me whenever I need something. I am a diabetic
heart patient and have a lot of problems. She always finds
time to help me anyway she can. When I had to have sur-
gery she stayed all night in the hospital room with me.
When I had to have surgery on my shoulder and could not
use my arm for several weeks she would come to my house
and help me take a bath and straighten my house as well
as do my shopping for me and feed the dogs and let them
out for me. At the sametime maintaining her GPA and attend-
ing her duties at work as well as being a mother to her
children. Her children are into all kinds of activities
at school and she always finds a way to attend these. One
son plays football and she rarely misses a game. Her
daughter is a cheerleader and she rarely missed any of her
performances. She has managed to teach her children how to
be great people and they are all very well liked by the
kids and teachers at school as well as the neighbors and
people at their church. My daughter is all of the things
I longed to be myself. I am told that some of the things
she does and knows had to have come from me but I fail to
see them. I forgot to mention she also spent 71/2 years
in the U.S. Army. Yes she should definitely be person of
the year!!!!! She is a beautiful person. Answer:

I do hope you show this letter to your daughter. What a
lovely holiday present to know how proud her mother is
of her. She sounds like an exceptional woman, and that
is both a compliment to you and her. Sounds like she has
one great mother!

I would like to nominate someone for the Person of the Year;
and she is ANGELINA JOLIE. She is a stunningly beautiful
and regal woman who does not simply rest on these external
qualities, but is so beautiful in her actions and her com-
passions that her inner Self glows with even more radiance.
Ms. Jolie is not a loud reformer, but goes about her mission
of helping quietly and with resolve. I admire her work for
the poor people of our world and I admire her for enlarging
her multi-racial family by adopting children whose lives
otherwise would be quite hopeless. She would make a wonder-
ful example for all of us, as Person of the Year.

It is nice when celebrities use their wealth to do good,
rather than create scandal. Angelina Jolie seems to be
someone truly interested in charitable acts, and I hope
other celebrities follow her lead.
