Taylor Swift Reclaims Country Album Crown (Again)

Taylor SwiftFor the umpteenth time, Taylor Swift's self-
titled fountain of teen angst bubbles back to the No. 1
spot on this week's Billboard country albums chart.
Opposite Swift on the peak of the songs chart is Kenny
Chesney, whose "Better Than a Memory" wins the champion-
ship just 13 weeks after its release.

Montgomery Gentry has the current highest-charting new
album, Back When I Knew It All, which checks in at No.
3. Brad Paisley claims the top new single berth at No.
51 with "Waitin' on a Woman." (This tune appeared on
Paisley's 2005 album, Time Well Wasted. Although the
song quickly became a fan favorite, it was never
released as a single until now. Its companion music
video will co-star Andy Griffith.)

This week's remaining new albums are Emmylou Harris'
All I Intended to Be (No. 4), comic Roy D. Mercer's
More Greatest Fits (No. 41) and the eponymous The
Infamous Stringdusters (No. 62).

The re-entering CDs are Dwight Yoakam's Dwight Sings
Buck (No. 68), the multi-artist anthology Best of
Country (No. 73), Playlist: The Very Best of Waylon
Jennings (No. 74), and Steve Ivey's Best of Bluegrass
Gospel: Collector's Edition.

The other newcomers to the songs list are Pat Green's
"Let Me" (No. 53), James Otto's "For You" (No. 58) and
the Zac Brown Band's "Chicken Fried" (No. 59).

Completing this week's Top 5 albums ranking are Toby
Keith's 35 Biggest Hits (No. 2) and Jewel's Perfectly
Clear, which tumbles to No. 5 from its niche last week
at No. 1. Following Chesney within the Top 5 songs, in
descending order, are Carrie Underwood's "Last Name,"
Blake Shelton's "Home," Paisley's "I'm Still a Guy" and
Rascal Flatts' "Every Day."

               George Jones Album of Duets
          Features Keith Richards, Mark Knopfler

George Jones' previously unreleased duets with Keith
Richards, Mark Knopfler, Dolly Parton and the late
Tammy Wynette will be made available to the public on
Burn Your Playhouse Down, a Bandit Records album set
for Aug. 19 release. Seven of the tracks are extra
songs not included on Jones' The Bradley Barn Sessions,
produced by Brian Ahern and released on MCA Records in
1994. They include the collaboration with Knopfler on
"I Always Get Lucky With You" and with Richards on the
title track. In addition to a version of "The Window Up
Above" with Leon Russell, the new compilation includes
duets with Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart and
Mark Chesnutt from The Bradley Barn Sessions. Three of
the unreleased tracks are from the sessions for Jones'
1991 Epic Records album, Friends in High Places, pro-
duced by Billy Sherrill. They include a collaboration
with Parton on "Rockin' Years," which she later record-
ed with Ricky Van Shelton. Shelby Lynne and Jim
Lauderdale are featured on the other songs from the
Epic project. The unreleased duet by Jones and Wynette
is "Lovin' You, Lovin' Me," recorded in 1977. Jones and
daughter Georgette Jones, his only child from his mar-
riage to Wynette, sing together on "You and Me Time,"
a track produced by Keith Stegall in 2007.
