         BIZARRE NEWS - Wednesday, July 23, 2008
"Spanning the globe for the weird...strange...and stupid."

Greetings fellow Bizarros:

Here is another thing we have imported from Asia that has
some Americans going, 'yuck' and some saying, 'cool!' For
$35 you can have a swarm of live fish eat your feet.

I'm not kidding.

Fish pedicures are creating something of a splash in the
D.C. area, where a northern Virginia spa has been offering
them for the past four months. John Ho, who runs the Yvonne
Hair and Nails salon with his wife, Yvonne Le, said 5,000
people have taken the plunge so far.

You put your feet in a large tank containing 100 or so of
these tiny little fish called garra rufa but typically
known as doctor fish. The little, toothless omnivores are
attracted to the dead, flaking skin. They leave live skin
alone because, without teeth, they can't bite it off.

Tracy Roberts, 33, of Rockville, Md., heard about it on a
local radio show. She said it was "the best pedicure I ever
had" and has spread the word to friends and co-workers. "I
had been an athlete all my life, so I've always had calluses
on my feet. This was the first time somebody got rid of my
calluses completely," she said.

And if that's not appetizing enough, in addition to offering
pedicures, Ho hopes to establish a network of Doctor Fish
Massage franchises and is evaluating a full-body fish treat-
ment. That's exactly what you want, hundreds of tiny skin-
eating fish swimming around your privates.

Russian athlete Ivanon Vyacheslav was so excited to win

------------ Fake landlord rented out home --------------

SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, Fla. - A Florida man says he
discovered he was making payments for several months to
a man who rented him a home the purported landlord did
not own. Carl Kopsho of Silver Springs Shores said he
began paying $800 per month to the man who rented him
the home in February, only to be told by Marion County
Sheriff's deputies Wednesday the man did not own the
house, the Ocala (Fla.) Star-Banner reported. Kopsho said
he met the man, who used the name Tyrone Grain, at a gas
station in January while talking to a friend about his
search for a new home. He said Grain told him he was in
the process of a divorce and was seeking to rent out the
house. However, the house actually belongs to Sebastian
Wagner, a man who lives in New York. Authorities have yet
to track down Grain, who Kopsho said had only accepted his
rent payments in cash. Kopsho said he is hoping Wagner
will allow him to continue to rent the home, as he has
already painted the walls and made plans to install new

-------- Giant lobster's rescue takes new twist ---------

SHEDIAC, New Brunswick - A 100-year-old, 22-pound lobster
in New Brunswick, Canada, purchased by rescuers who wanted
to release it, will instead live at a research station.
Dubbed "Big Dee-Dee," the crustacean was caught in the
Bay of Fundy, near Shediac, in July and ended up at Denis
Breau's Big Fish market. He opened bidding on the lobster
at $1,000 and two unidentified groups in the province of
Ontario and Laura-Leah Shaw, a Vancouver, British Columbia,
each posted $1,000 in a bid to save the lobster, the
Canadian Broadcasting Corp., reported. Shaw said her plan
was to release the lobster into the Atlantic Ocean to spare
it from being cooked but federal officials nixed that,
saying she would have to get a permit, the Canwest News
Service reported Monday. Instead, market owner Breau said
he decided in light of the international attention Big
Dee-Dee got, he wouldn't accept any money and rather donate
the lobster to the Huntsman Marine Science Center in
St. Andrews, New Brunswick, the CBC said.

Hey, Lewis! Back in the late 70's there was a movie about
America being far in debt (I'd hate to think what the number
was in that movie). When the foreign creditors demand pay-
ment, they have a telethon. I believe it was called America-
thon. How depressing, then AND now! -mascot
[I remember that movie. It starred John Ritter as President,
a bachelor president, as I recall, and Harvey Korman. That's
about all I remember. Although the premise of the movie is
not completely bizarre. We might be at that point before

We are blowing money based on the theory that any money spent
on the environment is good money. Whether Global Warming is
real or not is a BIG issue. It looks like it is turning into
the largest environmental hoax ever perpetrated. More than a
trillion dollars has been spent on 'fixing' global warming.
Think about how much rain forest that money could have bought
and turned into sanctuary. If global warming is a hoax: All
it has done is make us feel good while we poison the environ-
ment instead of getting to the job of fixing it. -John
[I wouldn't completely agree with that, but I can sympathize
with your attitdue. I think any money spent on coming up
with clean technologies is beneficial to the environment
whether global warming is real or not.]

Hey Lewis, someone wrote in wondering which may occur first,
inflation or depression. I say we have both now. This in-
flation is making me depressed. -Bill

The ceramic dog kidnappers that left the puppies should've
been charged with "littering"... -Ed
[I'll take care of the really bad jokes, people. Thank you.]

The engineering of an amalgamation between Mexico and the
US will merelly solve the problem of Mexican illegal im-
migrants. After that it will be legal for the Mexican poor
to move north further displacing local workers. But then
you'll have an illegal immigrant problem from the countries
south of Mexico, plus the appalling state of corruption
within the Mexican government departments which will be
difficult to eradicate. I can't see the Canadians finding
the amalgamation idea of any benefit. -Steve

Hey Lewis: You can tell that nut who figures America is
about to merge with Canada and Mexico that he'd soon find
out just how many firearms there really are in the Great
White North if you guys tried. Seriously, if you think
Vietnam and Iraq were military quicksand, try occupying
a country even bigger than yours! Dumb conspiracy theory
buffs... Wendy

Years back, it was suggested to save water, you should put
a brick in your toilet tank. Now, President Bush has sug-
gested, that we shoud put a brick in our gas tanks to save
fuel. He says, the more bricks, the more gas you save.
[Sounds good, but how are you supposed to get a brick in
your gas tank? I suggest pouring sand in there to take up
some of the volume. You'll get the same savings as a brick.]
