               ASCAP Honors Gary Allan,
           Writers of "Watching Airplanes"

Much of Music Row flocked to ASCAP's Nashville head-
quarters Tuesday afternoon (July 8) to honor Gary Allan
and songwriters Jonathan Singleton and Jim Beavers, the
co-writers of Allan's most recent hit, "Watching Air-
planes." Singleton is an ASCAP-affiliated writer.
Beavers is with BMI, a competing performance rights
society. Among the celebrants spotted in the crowd were
Capitol Records' artist Eric Church and ASCAP's reigning
songwriter of the year, Craig Wiseman. Allan took the
microphone only long enough to thank the writers for
creating the song. Said the emotionally overwhelmed
Singleton, "People ask me how it feels to have a [song
this successful], and I say I don't know. When I do,
I'll post a blog." View photos from the party.
