Thank you to everyone who wrote in with an answer to Danny's
question. There were dozens of answers. I have printed some
of the techniques below. Some of these are similar, but
worded differently, so I'm including more than one because
sometimes folks find different explanations clearer than
others...
Did they just close the window (click on the x in the upper
right corner)? Or did they click on the OK button and then
on the OK button again? If you just close the window without
clicking on OK the setting will not hold. I just tried it.
When I closed by clicking the x the setting didn't hold, but
when I closed by clicking OK and then OK again, it did.

Without knowing more about his system, It is hard to diagnose
the problem, but I think the trouble lies in not enough memory
rather than temporary cache space. I have mine set at the
low end of the slider at 50 Mb and it works just fine. I
also have 1 gb of ram memory installed.
On the settings page, set it to check for new versions auto-
matically and set the slider to between 50 & 100 Mb. This
should give him more than enough space to surf wherever he
wants.

Click start> control panel> internet options
The window that opens should be named general (at the top
tab)
Look about halfway down and you will see "temporary internet
files" click settings that listed there.
Move the slider to where you want
YOU MUST click ok and ok again (sometimes apply and okay)
or the changes will NOT be saved ]
