Favre breaks Marino's passing yardage record
Brett Favre became the NFL career leader in yards passing
Sunday, overtaking Dan Marino for his latest achievement in
a milestone season. The 38-year-old Favre, a three-time NFL
MVP, pulled to within 1 yard of Marino with a 44-yard touchdown
pass to Greg Jennings when he caught the Rams in a blitz. That
put the Green Bay Packers ahead 27-14 in the third quarter.
Favre then passed the Dolphins' Hall of Famer on the first
play of the Packers' next series with 23 seconds gone in the
fourth quarter. The game was halted as Driver hugged Favre and
other teammates patted him on the shoulder pads. Public address
announcer Jim Holder acknowledged the record, prompting a huge
ovation, and Favre shook hands with referee Ron Winter before
flipping the souvenir ball to an attendant on the sideline.

Giants TE Jeremy Shockey breaks left leg
New York Giants Pro Bowl tight end Jeremy Shockey broke his
left leg in the third quarter of Sunday night's game against
the Washington Redskins. Shockey was hurt on the Giants' first
possession of the second half when teammate Amani Toomer rolled
into the back of his leg from behind at the end of a running
play. Shockey was bent backward and immediately lay on the
ground in obvious pain. He was helped to the sideline by Giants
trainers and then taken in a cart for further examination. His
leg was immobilized. The injury was diagnosed as a broken left
fibula, the smaller of two bones in the lower portion of the
leg. Shockey had two catches for 18 yards in the game.
New York Giants practice bubble collapses
The New York Giants practice bubble collapsed Sunday morning
after strong wind blew down one set of revolving doors and let
the air out. The bubble should be back in operation no later than
Thursday, said Jim Minish, the executive vice president of
facilities for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority,
which operates the stadium and Meadowlands sports complex.
"It defends on how long it takes the company making the repairs
to fix the door area," Minish said, adding that work will start
Monday. "Once they do that, we'll begin the inflation, which takes
about three hours." Minish said the bubble collapsed about 6 a.m.
No one was inside and no one was hurt. It was the third time
in four years that the bubble has collapsed due to severe
weather.
