Haynesworth sits out practice with sore hamstring
Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth sat out practice
Wednesday with a sore right hamstring, one of five Titans who
watched from the sidelines. LenDale White, who has rushed for
100 yards in three straight games, sat out with a sore toe.
Right guard Benji Olson was a team decision with his usual
Wednesday off, while defensive end Travis LaBoy (concussion)
and linebackers Ryan Fowler (shin) and Levar Woods (team
decision) also sat out. Haynesworth hurt his hamstring late in
last week's 20-7 win over Carolina chasing David Carr. He said
he expects to play Sunday against Jacksonville (5-3). "I think
I'll definitely play," Haynesworth said. "I'm not a receiver or
running back like that, so it doesn't really hinder me too much.
I can still explode a bit. I don't know about running after the
quarterback or anything like that." Running back Chris Brown,
who has missed three games with a sprained left ankle,
practiced Wednesday.
Dolphins' Thomas may return Sunday against Bills
Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas may be back in the
lineup this week. Thomas returned to full contact at practice
Thursday. He has been bothered by the lingering effects of a
concussion and subsequent car accident. Thomas said he expects
to play Sunday against Buffalo, but awaits medical clearance.
"I've got to be smart," he said. "But I feel fine right now."
Thomas missed two games in September with a concussion.
Following the Dolphins' 49-28 loss to New England on Oct. 21,
he was involved in an accident on the Florida Turnpike on the
way home from the stadium, and he missed Miami's only game
since. Migraines bothered the seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker
this week, but he declined to discuss his symptoms. "I really
don't want to comment too much," Thomas said with a smile,
"because doing that too much gives me a headache."

Bears lose Brown for rest of season to shoulder injury
The Chicago Bears have lost nine-time Pro Bowl left guard
Ruben Brown for the season because of a right shoulder injury
that will require surgery. The team placed Brown on injured
reserve Thursday after he missed Wednesday's practice. Terrence
Metcalf will take Brown's place in the starting lineup Sunday
against the Oakland Raiders."Ruben has been practicing once
a week for the most part, and he's been dealing with some
pain," coach Lovie Smith said. "He wasn't able to finish the
last football game, but you know, you play with pain always.
You don't know the extent until you get to that point where
you're told it's not getting better. He needs to get it fixed."
The 13-year veteran started every game during the Bears' 2006
run to the Super Bowl, after missing three games in 2005 with
a chest injury and seven games in 2004 because of neck and
knee injuries. Brown was not available for comment. The
injury is another blow to a Bears offense which has struggled
with a league-high 16 interceptions and ranks next-to-last in
rushing at 78.9 yards per game.
Disclocated thumb to sideline Colts rookie WR Gonzalez 3-4 weeks
Indianapolis Colts team doctors have told rookie wide receiver
Anthony Gonazalez he will miss three to four weeks with a
dislocated thumb that also might have a torn ligament, reports
NFL Network's Adam Schefter Gonzalez, the team's first round pick
in 2007's draft, injured his thumb on the first play from scrimmage
of the Colts' loss to the Patriots. On the play, a 13-yard catch,
Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel tried to rip the ball out of
Gonzalez's possession and instead damaged the receiver's thumb.
Gonzalez tried to play the rest of the first half but struggled.
He did not play in the second half. To compound the loss of
Gonzalez, tight end Dallas Clark is recovering from a concussion
and wide receiver Marvin Harrison is still recovering from a left
knee injury. Clark has yet to participate in practice this week,
while Harrison has had limited work on both Wednesday and Thursday.
"Part of this is putting him through these testing runs that
simulate games and then see how he responds," Dungy said of
Harrison. "When he's OK, that's when he'll be ready to go."
If Gonzalez and Harrison can't play against the Chargers, the
Colts would have only three healthy receivers on the active
roster -- Wayne, Aaron Moorehead and Craphonso Thorpe, who
was on the inactive list against New England.
