         TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, April 9, 2008
"Six Items a Day of Enduring Insignificance"
------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings Infomaniacs,

A number of readers wrote in to point out that the trivia
about there being 80,000 miles of wire and 600,000 rivets
in the 746 foot towers was incomplete. What did all that
wire and all those rivets belong to?

The answer is San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden
Gate was the longest span in the world from its completion
in 1937 until the Verrazano Narrows Bridge was built in New
York in 1964. Today, it still has the seventh-longest main
span in the world.

Enjoy!
