          TRIVIA TODAY - Thursday, April 3, 2008
"Six Items a Day of Enduring Insignificance"
------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings Infomaniacs,

On this day in 1882 American outlaw Jesse James is shot in
the back and killed in Saint Joseph, Missouri by Robert Ford
for a $5,000 reward.

In 1942 Japanese forces begin an all-out assault on the
United States and Filipino troops on the Bataan Peninsula.
Bataan fell on April 9 and the Bataan Death March began.

In 1948 President Harry Truman signed the Marshall Plan which
authorized $5 billion in aid for 16 countries.

In 1973 the first portable cell phone call was placed in New
York City.

And in 2000 Microsoft is ruled to have violated United States
antitrust laws by keeping "an oppressive thumb" on its compet-
itors.

Enjoy!

                        She-Heo-Seo

Before the year 1000, the word "she" did not exist in the
English language. The singular female reference was the
word "heo", which also was the plural of all genders. The
word "she" appeared only in the 12th century, about 400
years after English began to take form. "She" probably
derived from the Old English feminine "seo", the Viking
word for feminine reference.
