               George Strait's Pure Country
              Inspires New Broadway Musical

George Strait's 1992 movie, Pure Country, has inspired 
a Broadway musical expected to debut in the 2008-2009 
season. Previews will take place in early 2009 with 
exact dates and a theater to be announced. The music 
will be composed by Steve Dorff (who co-wrote "I Cross 
My Heart" and "Heartland" from the original film). 
Lyrics will be written by John Bettis (also a co-writer 
of "Heartland"). Peter Masterson (The Best Little Whore-
house in Texas) will direct and co-author the book. 
Producers are Randall L. Wreghitt, Chris Presley and 
Ellen Rusconi.

                 Added to CMT Music Awards

Martina McBride and two-time Dancing With the Stars 
champ and Mercury Nashville recording artist Julianne 
Hough have been added as presenters at the 2008 CMT 
Music Awards airing live Monday (April 14) at 8 p.m. 
ET/PT on CMT and CMT.com. Billy Ray Cyrus and daughter 
Miley Cyrus will be hosting the show at The Curb Event 
Center at Nashville's Belmont University. Previously-
announced presenters include Jason Aldean, Jewel, Josh 
Turner, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Rodney 
Carrington, Sara Evans, Taylor Swift, the Eagles' Joe 
Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit and actor Tim Daly (ABC's 
Private Practice). Also presenting awards are Bobby 
Brown, John Rich and Maureen McCormick of Gone Country 
and Tom Arnold, host of CMT's My Big Redneck Wedding, 
as well as judge Naomi Judd and host Rossi Morreale of 
CMT's new series, Can You Duet. Performing on the show 
are Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Brad Paisley, Rascal 
Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Faith 
Hill, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes, Keith 
Urban and Brooks & Dunn.
