       Shel Silverstein's Country Album Reissued

Shel Silverstein's 1969 country album, A Boy Named Sue, 
has been reissued on CD for the first time by Water 
Records. Silverstein recorded the album in Nashville 
with producer Chet Atkins. The title track went on to 
become a classic hit for Johnny Cash. One of Silverstein's 
most-requested books, Don't Bump the Glump! and Other 
Fantasies, has also been reissued. The author of books 
such as The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends, 
Silverstein died in 1999. Other songwriting credits 
include Loretta Lynn's "One's on the Way" and Dr. Hook & 
the Medicine Show's "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" and 
"Sylvia's Mother."

                        Randy Owen
    Honored for Work With St. Jude Children's Hospital

Randy Owen, lead vocalist for Alabama, will be honored 
on May 13 in Washington, D.C., for his work with St. 
Jude Children's Research Hospital. He will accept the 
Paul G. Rogers Public Service Award from the Friends 
of the National Library of Medicine. Owen helped start 
the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program in 1989 
after meeting St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. The program 
has become one of the most successful radio fundraising 
events in the country with $315 million in pledges for 
the hospital to date.
