Koren Robinson joins Packers as they return from bye
His one-year suspension over, wide receiver Koren Robinson
rejoined the Green Bay Packers as they returned from their
bye week Monday. "It's a great feeling. To get out there for
the first time with them, it's overwhelming, really," said
Robinson, who was reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell
last week after serving the yearlong suspension for his third
violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Robinson
spent the weekend with quality control assistant Ty Knott
reacquainting himself with the Packers offense. "I'm just
happy to be back and happy I got this second opportunity,"
he said. Coach Mike McCarthy said he hasn't decided whether
Robinson will play in the Packers' next game, Monday night at
Denver. In fact, McCarthy said he has yet to receive clarification
from the league on how long Robinson's roster exemption lasts.
There's some confusion as to whether it expires on Wednesday or
on Oct. 31. "That hasn't been really cleared up for myself yet,"
McCarthy said. "He looked really good today. ... If we feel he's
ready to go to Denver, it's a moot point." Robinson said he
could be activated and play against the Broncos, despite having
been away from the game since his appeal was denied on
Oct. 17, 2006. "They're 5-1. I just want to contribute anywhere
I can," said Robinson, who played in four games for the Packers
last season, catching seven passes for 89 yards and averaging
21.1 yards on 12 kickoff returns after signing with the team
on Sept. 11, 2006. "They're playing pretty good right now,"
he said. "I'm just trying to come in, throw my little two cents
into the equation and hopefully it comes out. I'm just trying
to get in where I fit in."
During his suspension, Robinson spent time in jails in Kirkland,
Wash., Nicollet County, Minn. and Green Bay in connection with
a pair of alcohol-related arrests, the most recent of which
was on Aug. 15, 2006, when he led police in Mankato, Minn.,
on a high-speed chase. Police said he had a blood-alcohol
level of 0.11 percent, above Minnesota's legal limit of
0.08 percent.

Texans' Schaub day to day with hip injury
Houston's Matt Schaub will be listed as day to day this week
after X-rays of his injured right hip were negative. Coach
Gary Kubiak said Schaub had a "real bad bruise" on his right
hip and a sore lower left leg from hits on Sunday. He is also
dealing with a thigh bruise he's had for several weeks. "I
left Matt about an hour ago," Kubiak said. "He's moving around
very, very slowly. All the tests were negative. All the X-rays
look fine. He's really just beat up." Schaub's hip was injured
when Tennessee's Albert Haynesworth delivered a helmet-to-helmet
hit on him just before halftime Sunday. Schaub had left the game
earlier after a hard hit on his left leg, but returned after a
short stint on the sideline. He has started each game this season
for the Texans after he was acquired in March in a trade with
Atlanta. Kubiak said he hoped Schaub would feel better on
Wednesday, but added he could play Sunday against San Diego
without practicing this week. "There's no doubt about that as far
as him knowing what to do and doing his job," Kubiak said. However,
Kubiak said he wouldn't play Schaub if he thought Schaub wouldn't
be able to protect himself on the field. If he's unavailable,
the Texans will go with Sage Rosenfels, the only other
quarterback on the roster.
Agent: Knee injury sidelines Dolphins' Brown for rest of season
Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown will miss the rest of
the season because of a knee injury, his agent Todd France said
Monday. Brown underwent an MRI exam Monday. He twisted his right
knee in the third quarter of the Dolphins 49-28 loss to the New
England Patriots on Sunday. Brown has been one of the few bright
spots in Miami's bleak season. Coming into Sunday's game, he led
the NFL in yards from scrimmage and had reached the 100-yard
rushing mark for four consecutive games. Brown had 76 yards
rushing against the Patriots on 17 carries, and had five
receptions for 33 yards. The Dolphins are off to an 0-7 start
for the first time in their 42 seasons.

Broncos WR Marshall arrested on suspicion of DUI
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested on
suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday, police
said. Marshall was pulled over in downtown Denver shortly after
2 a.m., police Lt. Ron Saunier said. His arrest came hours after
the Broncos defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-28 in Denver.
Marshall was issued a summons and was released. Broncos team
officials said they were aware of the arrest but had no comment.
Bills' Canada plans include annual game in Toronto
Bills owner Ralph Wilson frequently has lamented how difficult
it is for his team to fully tap into Toronto, the Canadian
metropolis considered the NFL franchise's northern — and, by
far, largest — market. Turns out, the Bills might have finally
come up with a solution. If they can't lure Toronto's vast cache
of corporate dollars the 90-mile drive to Buffalo, then the Bills
intend to go north twice a year. That's part of the pitch the
Bills will make at the NFL fall meetings in Philadelphia on
Tuesday, when the team unveils its plan to host an annual regular-
season and preseason game in Toronto starting next year.
The Bills' plan is broader than what filtered out last week:
reports the team intended to host a preseason game in Toronto
next season, followed by a regular-season game there in 2009.
Brian McCarthy, NFL vice president of corporate communications,
said Monday the Bills' bid to play annually in Toronto is viewed
as both "logical" and "necessary" steps to secure the small-market
franchise's long-term viability. "They do need to further
regionalize both fan and corporate support in their home territory,"
McCarthy said. "So this would help the team further successfully
operate in the future in western New York." Toronto represents the
final and most lucrative frontier for the Bills, who insist they
have reached their revenue-generating limits in a rust-belt region
with a perennially struggling economy. The games would be played
at Rogers Centre, a downtown stadium with a retractable roof that
serves as home to baseball's Blue Jays and the Canadian Football
League Argonauts.
