Randy Owen Honored
for Work With St. Jude Children's Hospital
Randy Owen, lead vocalist for Alabama, will be honored
on May 13 in Washington, D.C., for his work with St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital. He will accept the
Paul G. Rogers Public Service Award from the Friends
of the National Library of Medicine. Owen helped start
the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program in 1989
after meeting St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. The pro-
gram has become one of the most successful radio
fundraising events in the country with $315 million
in pledges for the hospital to date.

Willie Nelson, Wynton Marsalis
Releasing Live Album in June
A live album featuring Willie Nelson and jazz musician
Wynton Marsalis, titled Two Men With the Blues, will
be released on June 10 by Blue Note Records, a jazz
label. Mickey Raphael, Nelson's longtime harmonica
player, also appears on the album, along with Marsalis'
band. Nelson and Marsalis recorded their concert at
Lincoln Center in New York City in January 2007. Among
the songs are "Stardust" and "Basin Street Blues." This
will be Nelson's third new release this year, following
Moment of Forever and the boxed set, One Hell of a Ride.
