Managers draw guns at armed man
Florida police said they have arrested a man who allegedly
shot his gun in a grocery store -- leading the manager and
assistant manager to draw their guns. West Palm Beach
police reports state Marshall Hugo Grant, 73, entered the
IGA Supermarket through the exit Monday after having been
warned not to by manager Marino Hernandez, the Palm Beach
(Fla.) Post reported Tuesday. The reports said the two men
had an argument that allegedly escalated when Grant drew
his handgun. Hernandez also drew a gun, as did assistant
manager Roberto Espinal, the report said. Grant fled from
the store, firing shots as he left, but the two managers
surrounded him and he surrendered when they told him police
were on their way, the reports alleged. Grant was charged
with attempted first degree murder, shooting into an
occupied dwelling, aggravated assault with a firearm and
carrying a concealed firearm.

Boy, 9, and grandpa find buried coins
A 9-year-old and his grandfather have discovered what may
be Sweden's largest collection of medieval silver coins,
archaeologists said. Alexander Granhof and his grandfather,
Jens, were exploring the site of the Battle of Lund, part
of the Scanian War in 1676, when Alexander found a few
silver coins coated in verdigris, Swedish News Agency TT
reported Tuesday. Archaeologists from Sweden's National
Heritage Board said they visited the site the following
day and discovered two clay containers filled with more
than 7,000 silver coins that are believed to be from around
the year 1300. "I never thought I'd experience anything
like this," said archaeologist Mats Anglert. Anglert said
most of the coins are from England and Denmark, but some of
the currency hails from what are now Germany and the
Netherlands. "I suspect we may have doubled the number of
English coins from the Middle Ages ever found in Sweden,"
Anglert said. The archaeologist said he and his colleagues
plan to continue searching the area for clues as to why the
coins were buried. "We're going to continue digging now
and hope that we find out more about the context surrounding
the coins," he said.

18 chickens found in yard
Police in Anne Arundel County, Md., said 18 chickens
discovered in a yard in the town of Glen Burnie have been
taken to an animal rescue ranch. Officers said a homeowner
phoned police Thursday to report the chickens had appeared
without explanation in the yard of the home, The Baltimore
Sun reported Tuesday. "The citizen advised the dispatcher
that she did not know who owned the chickens and wanted them
removed from her property," Anne Arundel police said in a
statement. The statement said the chickens have been taken
to Cheryl's Rescue Ranch in Harwood, Md., where the owner
has until Thursday to claim them. If no one comes forward,
the chickens will remain on the ranch, police said.

What are your thoughts on this yale student's "art"
project?
"...I don't believe in abortion but she, Aliza Shvarts,
shoulda been aborted, her own damned self!"
"I think this woman is very disturbed and has twisted the
definition of art to what she wanted it to be. Creating
life to merely videotape killing it is not justified.
This also walks the thin line with stem cell research, too.
Human life should never be created just to be destroyed.
I’m sure she stayed under the law too by killing them
before they were considered a “life” legally, so no
charges will be filed. This is just sick."
"the whole thing was exposed as a hoax last week. get up to
date stories please."
