Here's a tip for the kids. When your parents ask you what you
want for your birthday tell them you want a penny, but that
you want them to double it each year for 30 years.
If they agree, on the 30th year their final birthday gift
will be over 5.3 million dollars! Not bad for simply doubling
a penny 30 times.
Encourage them to keep working hard!

WEBMASTER TIP - Zoom!
Note: In code examples I add a period after each left arrow
bracket so the code can be viewed in all e-mail programs.
If you copy and paste, be sure to remove the periods or it
won't work.
Question: I was peaking at source code on a site and saw some
text surrounded by "zoom" code. What the heck is that!!?
Simon Says: It's pretty much what it sounds like, it gives
you a way to "zoom" in or out on content -- that is, you can
enlarge or shrink content using code. The problem with it if
you rely on it for your site design is that it's not official
code, it's proprietary, so it only works in Internet Explorer
and clones. It would work for most of your visitors, but not
all.
Here's an example of using the zoom with text:
<.div style="zoom: 150%;"> ...content... <./div>
Set the percentage to less than one-hundred percent to make
smaller text. As shown, it would make text enlarged at 150%
of the default size, but you can do that using legit CSS so
that all browsers can display it as you choose:
<.div style="font-size: 150%;"> ...content... <./div>
That would do the same thing and it will work with any CSS
compliant browser.
If an image were placed between the division tags with the
zoom code the image would also be enlarged or reduced, but
if you wanted to use if for that you could just code an in-
correct image size into the image tag. All things considered,
the "zoom" probably shouldn't be used in most cases.

COMPUTER TIPS - Next Window Please
With Windows XP you have many mouse options. If you use a
mouse with a clickable center wheel there's a cool option I
really like. If you have several program open as I always do,
I can just click the wheel and the next window automatically
comes to the front. That's much faster than mousing down to
the taskbar and finding and clicking the program button.
If you try it and that doesn't work, you probably need to
change what the wheel is programmed to do. Mine was set like
this by default, but there are many other options, such as
copy, paste, zoom in or out, double-click, close, and many
more.
To change your settings open the Control Panel, click the
Mouse icon, and you'll find the options on the Buttons tab.
