John Hargrave noticed that no one checked his signature when
he used his credit card. So, he decided to experiment. He
scratched his name so it didn't resemble any known language.
Not a problem. He tried using "X" for his signature, again,
no problem. He tried Egyptian hieroglyphics, celebrity names,
Zues, cartoon characters and more. Each time, the cashier
happily processed his purchase without a problem. Makes you
wonder.
Check it out, it's pretty funny:

WEBMASTER TIP - Disable the Right-click Context Menu
Note: In code examples I add a period after each left arrow
bracket so the code can be viewed in all e-mail programs. If
you copy and paste, be sure to remove the periods or it won't
work.
Question: Is there a code to keep a browsers right click menu
from opening when someone right clicks a web page?
Simon Says: There is, but while it works for the majority of
surfers, it won't work for all. For example, it someone has
JavaScript disabled in their browser preferences it won't work
because using JavaScript is how the right-click context menu
is disabled. Still, it will do the job for most of your site
visitors. Here's the script:
<.script type="text/JavaScript">
// from BoogieJack.com
if (window.Event)
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEUP);
function nocontextmenu()
{
event.cancelBubble = true
event.returnValue = false;
return false;
}
function norightclick(e)
{
if (window.Event)
{
if (e.which == 2 || e.which == 3)
return false;
}
else
if (event.button == 2 || event.button == 3)
{
event.cancelBubble = true
event.returnValue = false;
return false;
}
}
document.oncontextmenu = nocontextmenu;
document.onmousedown = norightclick;
<./script>
Just paste that into your source code somewhere. I recommend
at the end of the page just before the <./body> tag so it
doesn't slow down your content from loading.

SOFTWARE SPOTLIGHT - Trillian
Some friends use ICQ for instant messaging, others use AIM
or some other chat client. Sigh...if only they all used the
same one so I didn't have to have 5 different instant mes-
saging programs running.
But wait! Trillian is a full-featured chat client that sup-
ports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger and more. It provides
capabilities not possible with the original messaging clients,
while still supporting standard features such as audio chat,
file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, privacy
settings, and many others.
One of the best things about it to me, is that it has no
built-in advertising, pop-ups, or spyware. Other nice features
include contact message history, skinning capability, tabbed
messaging, global status changes, contact alerts, docking,
hundreds of emoticons, and emotisounds, to name a few.

Note: I do not provide support for the featured software.
Contact the software vendor for support. No warranty is
made or implied as to the usefulness or appropriateness of
featured software.

* The moon can appear 100 percent sunlit from Earth only if
it is diametrically opposite to the Sun in the sky. But at
that moment the Moon would be positioned in the middle of
Earth's shadow -- and in total eclipse. Therefore, on nights
of a full moon, despite the name, there is always a sliver
of darkness.

COMPUTER TIPS - The Wonderful Escape
The wonderful Escape key (Esc) on your keyboard is probably
more useful than you realize. As you might think, pressing
it allows you to escape from something. Here are a few of my
favorite escapes:
- When visiting a web site and an audio file starts playing,
more often than not it's one you don't really want to listen
to. Pressing the Esc key will stop the sound most of the time.
Works for sound embedded directly into the page. Doesn't work
for sound embedded into Flash.
- If a web page is loading in your browser and you want to
stop if, pressing the Esc key will stop the page instantly,
and it's faster and easier than maneuvering your cursor to
the Stop button on the browser menu.
- If you use the Autohide feature on your taskbar, once in a
while, for some reason known only to gremlins and Bill Gates,
it may fail to pop up when you move your cursor into position.
If you need to access the Start menu, you could be stuck, but
by pressing Ctrl + Esc the Taskbar will pop up and with the
Start menu opened.
- Lastly, if you're stuck anywhere on your PC and can't get
out of wherever it is you're stuck, try pressing the Esc key.
You may lose any unsaved information, but you may get unstuck
too.

seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they
sought.
