The first issue of The Internet Tutor was published in
December of 2000. Dubbed The Nutty Net Tutor back then, it
was started by my cousin, Dennis Gaskill (aka Boogie Jack),
and has been faithfully delivered every Thursday since.
As they say, all good things must end someday, and unfor-
tunately, this is the final issue of The Internet Tutor.
However, in order to keep providing you with quality
material GopherCentral.com will be merging this list with
their 'Gizmorama' publication.
Gizmo is a daily newsletter which will keep you up to date
on the latest info on software and high tech gear. Fun news

Note: In code examples I add a period after each left arrow
bracket so the code can be viewed in all e-mail programs. If
you copy and paste, be sure to remove the periods or it won't
work.
Question: How do I indent the first line of paragraphs so my
web page stories appear like the text of a book?
Simon Says: This is done with style sheets. Add the following
code to the HEAD section of your page or the middle line of
that code to an external style sheet:
<.style type="text/css">
p {text-indent: 12px;}
<./style>
You can change the 12px (12 pixels) to any reasonable size.
With this code in the HEAD section of your page or in your
external style sheet the first line following a <.p> tag will
be indented by the number of pixels you specify.

SURFIN' THE WEB - Music Map
I'm a big music lover. Unfortunately, the music I prefer is
seldom heard on the local stations in my area, so any tool
I can use to find artists I've never heard of that play the
kind of music I like is a great tool for me.
Music Map is one such tool. You simply type in the name of
a band or artist and it creates a "map" of names. The names
are of other bands and artists that other people like who
also liked the band or artist you entered. The closer other
names are on the map to the name you entered, the closer the
relationship is supposed to be.
On my first try I found a handful of musical talent that I
didn't know about but liked when I checked out some of their
music on Amazon. Follow up tries yielded the same results.
It's hard to figure out some of the musical relationships,
but it's a good tool for discovering artists you weren't
aware of that you will like.

COMPUTER TIPS - File Duplication
Sometimes it's wise to make a duplicate copy of a file that
you want to edit so you have a backup file in case things
don't work out as expected. Most folks think they have to
place the copy in a different directory, but scattering
copies all over your system often isn't the best practice.
Instead, you can make a copy of a file and keep it in the
same directory simply by right-clicking the file in Explorer
and dragging it to another part of the same directory and
dropping it. Explorer will then present a list of options
for you to choose from. Select "Copy Here" and the file will
be copied to same directory.
If your file was named MyFile.txt, it will rename the file
as "Copy of MyFile.txt" and all is well.
