Don't you think it's time for spring? I do, it's been cold
long enough. So, to force spring to come early, I set my
clocks ahead one hour like it was April and time to change
the clocks for daylight savings time. It didn't help. In fact,
it started snowing shortly thereafter.
I'm thinking it's going to take more than one person setting
his clocks ahead to force spring to come early, so tonight at
midnight I want everyone reading this to set their clocks
ahead by one hour. Do it! When we wake up on Friday, it will
surely be a nice, warm, sunny spring day!
I've got my shorts and t-shirt laid out and ready to wear.
Really now.

WEBMASTER TIP - Email Subject AutoFill
Note: In code examples I add a period after each left arrow
bracket so the code can be viewed in all e-mail programs. If
you copy and paste, be sure to remove the periods or it won't
work.
Question: I clicked a mail link the other day and my mail
program opened with the subject line already filled in! I
clicked a different mail link and my email opened with a
different subject!! How'd they do that?
Simon Says: This is very easy to do. Just add a the following
to your email link:
?subject=Your_Subject
...to have Your_Subject be the subject line of an email. Of
course, change "Your_Subject" to the subject line you want to
use. Here's a full mail link with a proper subject line added:
<.a href="mailto:you@yourdomain.com?subject=Sales">Email Sales
This link would open your mail program with "Sales" as the
subject line. You can place as many email links on a page as
you want with predetermined subjects, such as Sales, Support,
Web_Inquiry, etc.
I do suggest that if you want to use two or more words in the
subject line you separate the words with an underscore rather
than a space, as I've shown in my example with Web_Inquiry.
Using a space won't work in some browsers, but the underscore
will. You could also use a dash, or run words together, LikeThis.
Of course, using just one word is the most professional looking
option.
Whatever tickles your fancy, Nancy.

SURFIN' THE WEB - Fallen Fruit
Johnny Appleseed lives again! Three of them, in fact. Three
guys in LA hit upon a neat idea. They made a map of all the
places in the city where fruit trees were growing, on private
property, but had branches hanging over on public property.
With cities all across America, and indeed, all over the
world, spending money on landscaping using decorative, but
useless, tree, shrubs and flowers, why not decorate with
more useful foliage? These guys are calling on all cities
and towns everywhere to decorate with fruit trees and other
edibles.
The idea is simple, but great. People are hungry all over the
world. By decorating with trees and plants that bear food,
some of this hunger could be relieved by allowing people to
pick and eat free fruit, nuts, and whatever.
Get some info here, and start a movement in your town. You may
even win an award or official recognition for your efforts.
It happened to my brother when he started a similar community
betterment project. It could happen to you too, but if not,
you'll still be a hero for making the world a better place!
