A Special Delivery
I was visiting my dear friend for the weekend. Her family
was away and we were having a girlfriend visit. We did not
live in the same city, so it was a treat to see her for a
weekend. Her oldest son was about to start university in
a city away from home and had an apartment lined up to live
in while he was at school. The apartment was unfurnished.
While I was visiting my friend, we looked through the
newspaper to see what was going on nearby. About 20 miles
away in another town, an auction sale was listed on Saturday
evening. What a great idea, there could be bargains for
furniture needed to furnish the rented apartment. Off we
went. My friend found bargains galore from dressers,
coffee and end tables, bed, desk etc. Now we were there
with just my little Ford economy car! Towards the end of
the auction, it was announced that all goods had to be
removed from the hall that night. We left the auction hall
in the pouring rain about midnight. When I asked my friend
who she would call with a truck to get the furniture her
reply was that she didn't know anyone with a truck. What a
dilemma we seemed to be in. My car was near empty so I
pulled into a gas station to fill up and asked my friend to
keep her eye open for any trucks that were around. No
trucks appeared. We were very hungry and decided to go and
order a pizza while we figured out how to get the furniture
home. While the pizza was being cooked, a black truck
pulled into the parking lot. The driver came in. He was the
pizza delivery person. I looked at my friend and said,
"There's the truck". I asked the owner of thepizza place
if delivery of the pizza could be made 20 miles down the
road. He said I should ask the driver so I did. The driver
of the truck said he would deliver the pizza and agreed to
swing by the auction hall to pick up the furniture. In the
pouring rain,with pizza in his truck and a 20 mile trip down
the road, the angels answered prayers that seemed impossible
at the time. My friend and I are still remembering that
eventful night with gratitude. Angels live among us!!!!
