Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said Sunday in California
the Democratic Party's primary-season infighting will not
affect the general election.

Appearing at the California Democratic Party convention in
San Jose, Clinton downplayed the impact of the ongoing
political battles between his wife, U.S. Sen. Hillary
Clinton of New York, and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of
Illinois, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

"We're going to win this election if we chill out," the
former president said of the upcoming general election.
"We can win this election if we just let this play out,
stay together, grab hands and signal to America we want
to change the future of the country."

While Clinton attempted to woo the 21 undecided California
superdelegates with his speech, San Francisco District
Attorney Kamala Harris pointed out the potential impact
of such electoral efforts.

"Every day we have to fight against someone else in the
party instead of against the Republicans is a day lost,"
the Obama supporter said Sunday.

What are your thoughts om Bill Clinton's comments?

Horn-happy drivers targeted in New York
Community leaders in New York have asked city officials to
install lights on all taxis that would light up when their
drivers use their car horns. Driven by complaints about
horn-happy drivers, members of the Lower East Side's
Community Board 3 proposed the idea to the Taxi and
Limousine Commission last week, the New York Post reported.
"Right now, the police actually have to see a cabdriver
honk the horn to issue a ticket, and that's obviously hard,"
Board 3 District Manager Susan Stetzer said. "This would
allow the police to see exactly who honked and make it easy
to enforce the rules." The next step toward eliminating
the annoyance of honking car horns is to implement a fare
discount of $1 for each time a cabbie leans on the horn.
"If the driver lost a buck every time he blew the horn,
that would stop him real quick," Lower East Side resident
Avram Fefer told the Post. TLC Commissioner Matthew Daus
said any ideas presented to the commission would be
evaluated.

         School's plagiarism code plagiarized
Portions of a new cheating and plagiarism code at the
University of Texas at San Antonio appear to have been
plagiarized, alert Internet readers said. The allegation
arose after a draft of the university's new honor code
appeared online and parts of the code were found to have
matched another school's code word for word, the San
Antonio (Texas) Express-News reported. UTSA student Akshay
Thusu, who worked on creating the honor code, said any
plagiarism was simply an oversight. "We believe there might
be a citation page," he told the newspaper. "We are still
looking for it." Some experts in plagiarism and cheating
told the newspaper the oversight simply indicates a lack
of understanding by today's youth. "Young people today
have a different understanding of what in the way of ideas
and words is property that can be taken without
authorization," Rutland Center for Ethics director Daniel
Wueste said. "That's the consequence of the Internet and
the availability of things. It doesn't feel like what would
be in a book. You Google it and here it comes."

               Agency provides temporary dogs
A business operating on both U.S. coasts is doing its bit to
respond to the market for companionship by renting dogs.
Flexpetz, which began in San Diego, opened branches in New
York and Los Angeles last year, The New York Times reports.
The agency gets its rental dogs from animal shelters and
the ultimate goal is to find them permanent homes. Renters
are carefully screened and required to watch a one-hour
video. They also pay $279.95 a month membership, including
four one-day rentals, plus $45 a day for any rentals past
that. Chris Haddix, a graduate student in philosophy who
runs the New York branch, said New Yorkers want small dogs.
Big ones are popular on the West Coast. "A lot of people
out there are looking for companionship," he said. New
York newcomer Sarah Stevenson said meeting people is easier
when she is walking Oliver, a tiny cockapoo. Stacy Faulkner,
a Flexpetz client in San Diego, said she rents a dog
because her Rottweiler died two years ago and she's not
ready to commit to a new pet.
