My Son's Wedding
My mother died in 1991 and I was really heartbroken. She was
loved so much. Her grandson always called her Grandmother
and she was so proud to be called that. All the rest of her
grandchildren called her Grandma. When she died, my son put
a single rose in her casket with 'Grandmother' on the
ribbon. When he got married a few years later in a park the
weather was beautiful, no wind and the sun shining. Just
before the ceremony started, a gust of wind blew through and
I immediately knew that my mother had come to see her
grandson get married. The weather stayed the same and the
sun kept shining but I knew my Mom was there. I told my
son right after the ceremony that his grandmother had
come to his wedding and he asked what I meant. I asked
him if he felt the gust of wind before the ceremony
and his eyes then lit up. I will always think - and know -
that my wonderful mother was there that
day.
