PETER BOYLE, FATHER ON "RAYMOND," DEAD AT 71
Peter Boyle, the nosy, curmudgeonly father on the hit sitcom
"Everybody Loves Raymond," died Wednesday at a New York
hospital. He was 71. He was an Emmy winner in 1996 for his
guest-starring role in an episode of "The X Files," and he
was nominated for what he is perhaps best known for, Frank
Barone in "Raymond." His film roles include the bumbling
monster in Mel Brooks' 1974 spoof "Young Frankenstein." It
was on the "Frankenstein" set he met journalist Loraine
Alterman, whom he married in 1977, with their mutual friend
John Lennon as best man.
