Greetings fellow Bizarros:
Nobody ever said teenagers were smart. An 18-year-old in
Wisconsin had seven dump truck loads of snow delivered by
the city to his parent's front yard so he could build a
34-foot long igloo.
Dan Meyer said he used his 10 years of snow construction
experience to form the snow into a massive snow fort that
reaches above the first story of his parents' home.
"I was just amazed by how much one load was," Meyer said.
"Then I piled it up and called them for more loads."
Jeff Harding, assistant superintendent of public works for
Neenah, said the city occasionally gets requests for truck-
loads of snow, but this was the first instance he knew
about where the snow went toward a construction project.
"We backed up in the front yard and dumped away, just like
we would at our dump site," he said. "It's really like,
'My God, what are you doing with all this snow?'"
Dan's father was reported as saying that if all that snow
floods the damned basement when it melts he is going to
slap the taste out of Dan's mouth.
Bizarrely,
Lewis

+------------- Bizarre National Superstitions -------------+
In Iceland, an unmarried person who sits at the corner of a
table won't marry for seven years. A pregnant woman who
drinks from a cracked cup risks having a baby with a hare-
lip.
In Japan, picking up a comb with its teeth facing your body
brings bad luck.
In Malta, churches with two towers are fitted with a clock
face in each but the two clocks always tell different times
to confuse the Devil about the time of the service.
In Nigeria, a man hit with a broom becomes impotent unless
he retaliates seven times with the same broom. Sweeping a
house at night brings misfortune to the occupants.
In Poland, bringing lilac into the house is a sure sign of
impending death.
In Scotland, red and green should never be worn together.
It is unlucky to throw vegetables on to the fire and to
carry a spade through the house. This means that a grave
will soon be dug. And three swans flying together means
a national disaster is imminent.
In Holland, people with red hair bring bad luck.
In China, sweeping out a house removes all the good luck,
especially on Chinese New Year.

-------- Survey says: Churchill walked on moon ----------
LONDON - A third of elementary school students confused
Sir Winston Churchill with moon-walking astronaut Neil
Armstrong, a British survey found. The survey, commissioned
by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and the Royal
Astronomical Society, found that a third of children ages
4 to 10 mixed up the British leader with the first man to
set foot on the moon, London's Daily Telegraph reported
Thursday. "It's a bit of a worry to find that children
don't know who the first man on the moon is, let alone
that they don't know who led the country to victory in
the Second World War," said Gavin Quirk, a Disney brand
manager. A similar survey of British teens in February
reportedly showed that 25 percent believe Churchill was a
fictional character.

----------- Woman, 66, catches alleged robber -------------
CAMAS, Wash. - Police in Camas, Wash., said a 66-year-old
woman chased down and wrestled a 22-year-old armed robbery
suspect to the ground. Joshua Crowley was arrested on
suspicion of armed robbery after he allegedly held up a
Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise at knifepoint, KPTV,
Portland, Ore., reported. A store clerk dialed 911
immediately after the suspect exited the fast-food
restaurant and the manager ran outside and alerted drive-
through customers and passersby that the store had been
robbed and pointed out the suspect as he fled. Mary
Chamberlain, 66, one of the motorists alerted by the
manager, followed Crowley in her car before exiting the
vehicle and confronting the suspect, police said. She
wrestled Crowley to the ground and police arrived within
seconds to arrest the alleged robber.
------ Court rejects appeal of pantless intruder -------
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Supreme Court rejected
an appeal from a man sentenced to 20 years in prison
after he was caught without pants in a strange house at
night. William Hudson, an Arizona truck driver, was
convicted of home invasion in 2005. Hudson said he had
met a woman while passing through Quincy, Ill., and they
decided to have sex but everything went wrong, the
Springfield (Ill.) State Journal-Register reported Friday.
The woman helped him get his pants and boots off, then
she stole his money and ran, Hudson said. He said he gave
chase, pantless, into a nearby house where he came upon
a 16-year-old girl who screamed. Hudson said he never did
get his money back.

--------- Retired worker stays at job for no pay ----------
KOLKATA, India - A Kolkata, India, man who retired from
his health center job in 1995 has continued to show up for
work for the past 14 years without a salary. Relatives
said Rabindranath Bhadra, who retired 14 years ago from
the Jagatballavpur Block Health Center, needs to work in
order to remain healthy, the Press Trust of India reported
Thursday. "He feels ill if he stops working," said Bhadra's
wife, Suniti. "Once, we had stopped him from following his
grueling routine. But he started feeling depressed and
started developing cardiac problems and so we have allowed
him to work so he stays fit and happy," Bosses and fellow
workers at the health center said Bhadra remains an
indispensable part of the staff. "We have become dependent
on him after his retirement. If he doesn't come for a day
we face a lot of problems. He is indispensable," Rupanjali
Biswas, medical officer of Jagatballavpur Block Health
Center, told the Press Trust of India. Bhadra said he isn't
bothered by working for no pay. "I get my pension and that
is enough for me and so why should I ask for more?" he
said.

Gee Lewis... Who's describing these things? The wrestler
who jumped off the rope and slammed his face into the steps
is still moving at the end of the clip, but the guy who got
'bombed' by him is out like a light. The jumper didn't knock
himself out. -Mac
[I don't care if most of wrestling is staged...that guy
planted his face into those steps at 32 feet-per-second, per
second.]
With the Supreme Court trying to determine whether the 2nd
Amendment to the Constitution really says that we can keep
and bear arms, the following is quite interesting...
A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
Calculation) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.
C) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
D) The number of accidental gun deaths per year is 1,500.
Calculation) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is
.0000188.
Statistics courtesy of FBI
E) So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times
more dangerous than gun owners.
