Greetings fellow Bizarros:
When I read the following story the words that kept running
through my mind were, "M is for the million things she gave
me, O means only that she's growing old..."
A Florida mother was arrested after police found her driving
with beer buckled in the front seat but her toddler unre-
strained in the back seat.
Tina D. Williams, 46, faces charges of drunken driving, child
abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without
a license after officers stopped her for running a red light.
Amber Tedrick, 20, reportedly was in the back seat of the car
next to Williams' unrestrained 16-month-old daughter.
When police asked Williams, who smelled of alcohol, why the
toddler was not buckled in, she said she did not know. Always
a good answer when you're too liquored up to come up with a
good lie.
Police reportedly found a 24-pack of Busch beer buckled into
the passenger seat and two pipes typically used for drug pur-
poses in Williams' purse.
Williams was held in the St. Johns County Jail in lieu of
$31,000 bail.
Bizarrely,
Lewis

+---------------------- Bizarre Salt ----------------------+
FACTS
If the world's oceans evaporated, enough salt would be crys-
tallized to cover Britain to a depth of 50 miles.
Being hygroscopic, salt spread on dusty floors in equestrian
centers and indoor arenas retains moisture and keeps down
dust.
Until recently, salt bars were the standard currency of
Ethiopia.
In ancient Greece, slaves were traded for salt, hence the
expression "not worth his salt".
In his painting The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci put an
over turned salt cellar in front of the ill-fated Judas.
In old Japanese theatres, salt was sprinkled on the stage
before performances to prevent evil spirits from casting a
spell on the actors and ruining the play.
In Arab countries salt was used to seal a bargain, and also
as a sign of friendship.
The Druids used salt in their rituals at Stonehenge. It is
thought that this was as a symbol of the life-giving fruits
of the earth.

-------- Herring gives Swede unwelcome wakeup call ---------
MOTALA, Sweden - A Swedish man was awakened Thursday by an
open can of pungent fermented herring tossed through his
bedroom window by an unknown assailant, The Local said.
Police in Motala were looking into the matter, which
didn't hurt anyone but left the victim's home in need of
an extensive mid-winter airing out. The Stockholm newspaper
said investigators had an idea who was behind the "herring
grenade" attack, which was classified as a property damage
crime.

-------------- Mom can take baby to prison ---------------
PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia - Canadian officials in
British Columbia have decided Lisa Anne Whitford may bring
her infant daughter with her when she goes to prison for
manslaughter. In what officials say is the first case of
its kind in the province -- and possibly a first in Canada
-- officials told Whitford, 37, she could bring her baby
to prison with her, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported
Thursday. Whitford was sentenced Wednesday to four years
in prison sentence for shooting and killing her common-law
husband, Anthony Ryan Cartledge, 49, in 2006. Whitford gave
birth to her daughter in March 2007 while in custody. Dave
Lefebvre, a spokesman for the Correctional Service of
Canada, said a program is in place for this kind of
situation in Canada, but as far as he knows this is the
first time a woman will take her child with her to serve
a federal prison sentence. Whitford appeared for her
sentencing by video from the Alouette River Correctional
Center for Women. She will serve much of her sentence in
the Fraser Valley Institution mother-child program, the
newspaper said. The judge in the case also ruled that
Whitford may never again own firearms or ammunition.
-------- Fish go into space for seasickness study ----------
KIRUNA, Sweden - Tanks of fish are to be blasted into
space from northern Sweden so that scientists can study
motion sickness. The tiny cichlids will be carried by a
25-foot-long rocket more than 160 miles above the Earth's
surface, The Local reported. Liftoff is scheduled for next
week from the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, Sweden, an
iron-mining town above the Arctic Circle. The fish will
spend about 6 minutes weightless during the trip. "Quite
simply, they are going to be seasick until they have
managed to acclimatize," said Johanna Bergstrom-Roos, a
spokeswoman for the space center. Once the fish are back
on Earth, German researchers will examine their otoliths,
structures in the ear that sense changes in acceleration.
The scientists are testing a thesis that otolith structure
may determine how sensitive a human -- or a fish -- is to
motion sickness.

-------- Cow urine seen as disease cure in India ---------
NEW DELHI - India's experts in the Ayurveda, an ancient
system of medicine in South Asia, say cow urine contains
properties to cure many diseases, including cancer. In
the northern state of Uttarakhand, officials have begun
a program to buy about 1,300 gallons of cow urine every
day to be used by Ayurvedic experts, reports Britain's
Daily Telegraph. The product will be collected from a
network of 1,900 specially created milk cooperatives.
There are also plans to add 26 species of mountain cows
to the program as yield from these animals reportedly has
a "richer" herbal residue content compared to the one
provided by those in the plains. Ayurvedic chemist Rakesh
Bhaguna told the newspaper cow urine has the same potential
Western system medicines to fight diseases. The state also
has plans for a Cow Science and Technology Institute to
conduct research in the medicinal values of cow urine and
cow dung. Ayurvedic products already are being marketed
as a treatment and are used in face creams, shampoos and
memory pills in a country where the cow is highly sacred
for the Hindus. Some modern doctors warn more research
is needed on cow urine before it can be used as a curative
medicine.

Lewis, if gay marriages are allowed, how close is that to
allowing a marraige between a man and a sheep?, It is not
far away..... Freerbird
[If you can get a sheep to actually say, 'I do,' I'm sure
you can find a church somewhere that will marry you.]
Lewis, It looks like you hit a Southern nerve concerning
their livestock. And as a Northerner, I applaud you! They
crazy! Your comments to reader mail continues to crack me
up. I love you man, Amy.
[I love you, too. You're not covered in wool, are you?]
Well, it appears our African-American friends have found
yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman,
from Florida , has complained that the names of hurricanes
are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names
that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua,
Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal and Jamal. I am NOT Making this
up! She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast
in Language that street people can understand because one of
the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black
people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation,
due to the racially biased language of the weather report.
[I think, 'Get the f___ out of town,' translates well into
pretty much any form of English.]
Wow, people are all enraged about the Southern state thing.
Maybe if people in the South would stop doing stupid things,
we would stop making fun of them. And I'm from the South! I
think you're funny, keep up the good work! - Angie the Aggie
[I seem to be popular with the ladies this week.]
Lewis, many years ago, while I was in nursing school, an
extremely obese woman came into the ER with abdominal pain.
This lady was around 500 lbs. After quite a while the docs
figured out she was in labor! She thought she was going
into menopause and it never occurred to her she might be
preggers. Unfortunately, the fetus was dead. An Xray showed
that her weight had crushed it. It was delivered by Csection.
They had to use 6 people on retractors to get to the uterus.
[The mechanics of getting a 500 lb. woman pregnant in the
first place is mind-boggling.]
