turned activist, Walter Payton, who died this week in 1999.

--October 30, 1941 - Otis William
Born Otis Miles, Jr. on October 30, 1941, in Texas is an
American second tenor/baritone singer and a soul and R&B
songwriter and record producer. In late 1960s Williams became
the founding member of the group The Temptations, their famous
songs include "My Girl" and "Just My Imagination.” The
Temptations eventually became the most successful act in black
music over the course of its nearly five-decade existence and
Williams continues to perform as the sole surviving original
member.
-- November 3, 1970 - Sean "Diddy" Combs
One of the wealthiest people in the entertainment industry,
Diddy presides over a media empire that includes the record
label Bad Boy Records, the clothing lines Sean John and Sean
by Sean Combs, a movie production company, and two
restaurants. He has taken the roles of recording executive,
performer, producer of MTV's "Making the Band," writer,
arranger, clothing designer, and Broadway actor. As of October
2006, his nickname and recording name is Diddy; previously,
he had been known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Sean John, Puff,
The Big Puff, and Puffy.
--November 4,Walter Cronkite
Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr.is a retired American journalist,
best known for his work as a television news anchorman. During
his tenure at CBS Evening News, he was often cited in viewer
opinion polls as "the most trusted man in America", because of
his experience and professional demeanor. Affectionately known
as "Uncle Walter", he covered many of the important news events
of the era so effectively that his image and voice are closely
associated with the Cuban missile crisis, the assassination of
President John F. Kennedy, the Vietnam War, the Apollo 11 Moon
landing, and the Watergate scandal.

-- November 1,1999 - Walter Jerry Payton
Payton was a Football running back for the Chicago Bears.
He most notably known as one of the National Football
League's most productive players, setting various records
during his thirteen year playing career. In 1993, Walter
Payton was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
After he was diagnosed with a liver disease, he started
a foundation. Afterwards he state of Illinois witnessed a
dramatic skyrocket in organ donations.
-- November 3, 1998 - Bob Kane
Born Robert Kahn, on October 24, 1915 was an American comic
book artist and writer credited as the creator of Batman.
He entered comics in 1936, and for Detective Comics Inc.,
one of the companies that, with National Periodicals and
All-American Publications, merged to form the eventual DC
Comics created a character called The Bat-Man. As Kane's
comic work tapered off in the 1960s, Kane parlayed his Batman
status into minor celebrity. He enjoyed a post-comic book
career as a painter, showing his work in art galleries.
