****Some famous people born during this week in history:
-- December 28, 1954 - Denzel Jermaine Washington, Jr.
Two-time Academy Award-winning film actor, played one of his
most critically acclaimed roles in 1992's "Malcolm X." His
performance as the Black Nationalist leader earned him an
Oscar nomination, and turned him into one of Hollywood's most
respected actors. During the early and mid 1990s, Washington
became a renowned starring in several successful thrillers,
including "The Pelican Brief" and "Crimson Tide." He also won
an Oscar for his film, 2001 cop thriller, Training Day, which
he played a villainous character. Between 2003 and 2004,
Washington appeared in a series of thrillers including "Out of
Time," "Man on Fire" and "The Manchurian Candidate."
-- December 29, 1936 - Mary Tyler Moore
Both an actress and comedian, perhaps best known for "The Mary
Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977), she played the role of Mary
Richards, a news producer. She is also famous for her role as
Laura Petrie, wife of television comedy writer Rob Petrie on
"The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966). These two series are
classic comedies, in which Moore had the opportunity to make a
lasting impact on twlelvision. She has also appeared films
such as 1980's "Ordinary People," which she earned an Oscar
nomination.
-- December 25, 1946 - Jimmy Buffett
Singer, songwriter, including hits such as "Margaritaville"
which is ranked 234 on the list of "Songs of the Century,"
and also "Come Monday." His devoted fans are known as "Parrot-
heads," and his band is named the Coral Reefer Band. Buffett
is also a best selling writer and involved in two restaurant
chains named after some of his best known songs, "Cheeseburger
in Paradise" and "Margaritaville."

in history:
-- December 25, 1977 - Sir Charles Chaplin
English comedy actor, becoming one of the most famous
performers in the early to mid Hollywood era. Chaplin was
one of the most creative and influential personalities in
the silent film era. His entertainment career spanned over
65 years, amd he led one of the most remarkable and colourful
lives of the 20th century. He has achieved the pinnacle of
world fame in the film industry and is maintained as a
cultural icon.
-- December 26, 1972 - Harry S. Truman
He was the thirty-third President of the United States. As
Vice President, he succeeded to the office upon the death of
Franklin D. Roosevelt. Truman's presidency progressed quickly
with a victory over Germany, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, the surrender of Japan and the end of World War
II. In his term there was also the founding of the United
Nations, the beginning of the Cold War, and the Korean War.
Nowadays, he is considered one of the top ten Presidents.
His legendary upset victory in 1948 is routinely invoked by
underdog presidential candidates.
