This week we remember two of the actors from the television
version of "Amos 'n' Andy," both Spencer Williams who played
Andy, and Johnny Lee who played Algonquin J. Calhoun died
this week in history. Also this week a Happy Birthday to Bob
Barker who turns 83!

-- December 12, 1923 - Bob Barker
Seventeen-time Emmy Award-winning American television game
show host. He is best known for hosting CBS's The Price Is
Right, making it the longest-running daytime game show in
television history. On October 31, 2006 he announced that he
would retire from hosting The Price Is Right in June 2007
after holding the job for thirty-five years and having been
in television for fifty years.
-- December 12, 1915 - Francis Albert Sinatra
An American singer and Academy Award-winning actor who many
consider to be one of the finest male popular song vocalists
of all time. Sinatra one of the most important, popular and
influential musical figures of the 20th century, has sold
over 250 million records worldwide. Sinatra had a over a
seven-decade career in show business, becoming an American
icon.
-- December 11, 1943 - John Kerry
Junior United States Senator from Massachusetts. As the
Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, he was
defeated in the 2004 presidential election by the
Republican incumbent, President George W. Bush.

-- December 13, 1969 - Spencer Williams, Jr.
An African American actor best known for playing Andy in the
Amos 'n' Andy television show. Before this, he had a long
career as an actor, film director, producer, and writer.
He was also involved with the film The Blood of Jesus.
-- December 12, 1999 - Joseph Heller
An American satirist best remembered for writing the satiric
World War II classic Catch-22. The book was partly based on
Heller's own experiences. The phrase "Catch-22" has entered
the English language to signify a no-win situation,
particularly one created by a law, regulation or circumstance.
