Alan Jackson Boasts Top Album and Song
With "Small Town Southern Man" stepping up from No. 2
to No. 1 and Good Time claiming the peak for a second
week, Alan Jackson now holds sway over both Billboard's
country songs and albums charts.
The tall man's double victory jangles an otherwise sleepy
chart week. There's only one new song and one new album
to report. Carrie Underwood's "Last Name" bows at No. 46,
while Kenny Chesney's Super Hits collection edges in at
No. 68.
Lee Brice's single, "Happy Endings," bounces back onto
the charts at No. 32. Three albums also make comebacks:
Emerson Drive's Countrified (No. 67), Rhonda Vincent's
Good Thing Going (No. 70) and Ronnie Milsap's 16 Biggest
Hits (No. 75).
While they're still some distance from the top, three
songs are racing up the ladder. After just six weeks,
George Strait's "I Saw God Today" is already No. 7.
Rascal Flatts' "Every Day" and Brad Paisley's "I'm
Still a Guy" have zoomed to No. 16 and No. 19,
respectively, in only four weeks.
Among the Top 5 songs we find, in descending order,
Underwood's "All-American Girl," Trace Adkins' "You're
Gonna Miss This," Rodney Atkins' "Cleaning This Gun
(Come On In Boy)" and Chesney and Strait's "Shiftwork."
Albumwise, Taylor Swift's self-titled package stays dug
in at No. 2 after 73 weeks on the charts, followed in
sequence by Underwood's Carnival Ride, Garth Brooks'
The Ultimate Hits and the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden.
Honestly, now, have you ever seen so much drama squeezed
from such little action?
